Its active ingredient benzydamine is an anti-inflammatory drug belonging to the therapeutic class of NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs). This agent was discovered in 1964 by the Angelini research laboratories. So far, it is an international drug containing a molecule that was discovered and patented by the Italian company Angelini. Benzydamine is marketed directly by Angelini in Italy, Spain and Portugal. It is also marketed in many other countries through a worldwide network of licensees.
Benzydamine has local disinfectant and anaesthetic properties, is well tolerated and fast-acting.
